We have canoes, kayaks and runabouts available for casual hire everyday, from Boreen Point. You are welcome to launch these locally or you may take the canoes and kayaks with you to another location using your own roof-racks or a trailer, for example to explore the Mary River.
We use Canadian style canoes, which are ideally suited to the lakes and rivers in this area, with both 2-seater and 3-seater fibreglass and poly models. The 3-seater poly model is pictured above, with a large carrying capacity and ideal for 2-3 people and overnight trips requiring extra gear.
These are lightweight and strong, and suitable for transporting on roof-racks for those wanting to launch away from our hire points.
We only use top-of-the-range Ocean Kayak brand kayaks, as Australia's most popular and successful sit-on-top kayaks and the world's leading sit-on-top brand. These boats are proudly made in New Zealand and since their innovative debut in 1971, Ocean Kayak models are considered the most stable and safest kayaks on the market.
Pictured above is our double paddler kayak, the "Cabo" model, with a seating capacity for two paddlers and a jump-seat passenger.
For enhanced ease of use, both the double and single paddler models have rudders controlled by adjustable foot peddles and are lightweight, strong and straight tracking. Perfect for exploring the local lakes and rivers.
Our runabouts are Stessco "Catcher" 4.1m boats, licensed to hold up to 4 people, with 8hp Yamaha outboard motors and a canopy (bimini) sunshade . While no special license is required to drive these, the minimum age of hirers is 18 years.
Our fully inclusive casual hire rates effective from Sept 2015 are as follows and normally involve departures from Boreen Point. If you are doing a self-guided tour to the NOOSA EVERGLADES, please refer to separate information for day trips or overnight trips.
Water-tight plastic drums (50 litre size) for the secure storage of clothes, gear and food are available for $10 each drum per trip (up to 3 days).
Boreen Point is the departure point for all our runabout hires and the preferred launching point for our canoe and kayak hires. However, we also cater for canoe/kayak departures and returns at the boat ramp near Elanda Point (the green marker on this map).
Departing or returning at Elanda Point can be preferred by those wishing to venture northwards across the lake towards Kinaba, Kin Kin Creek, The Upper Noosa River, the Noosa Everglades, Fig Tree Point, Harrys Hut and the other camping sites within the Great Sandy National Park.

Canoe, kayak and runabout hire is normally available every day of the year, subject to weather conditions. We normally have equipment available even if you turn up without notice but we suggest that you book in advance if possible. All hires normally commence at 8:00am (but If you wish to start your hire earlier, we will often be able to help you) and end at 4:00pm in winter and 5:00pm in summer.
At times we may also be away on tours so it is always best to book as early as possible.
Your involvement in any of our trips, tours and hires is subject to our General Terms & Conditions, and any other specific hire agreement we may execute with you.
